WordPress/WooCommerce Specialist for Premium RUO E-Commerce Site + Custom 3D Experience

**Job Title** **About the Project** We are building a new premium e-commerce platform for a **Research Use Only (RUO)** brand and are looking for a developer who can combine strong WooCommerce development with high-end interactive web design. Our goal is not to create another standard peptide/research website using a pre-made template. We want the site to have its own identity and immediately feel different from competitors. A major part of that differentiation will be a custom 3D experience when visitors first enter the website. This project is specifically for an RUO research business — it is NOT a telehealth platform, clinic, pharmacy, or patient-service website. Understanding that distinction is important. Experience with existing RUO, peptide research, biotechnology, laboratory, or similar research-oriented businesses will receive strong preference. **The Main Vision** The website should combine two things: **1. A memorable visual experience** The opening section should feature a custom 3D or interactive experience that immediately grabs attention and introduces the brand in a premium way. The 3D design is primarily being used for visual impact and differentiation. We do not want unnecessary 3D effects throughout every page. **2. A clean and functional e-commerce experience** Once visitors move beyond the opening experience, the website should become extremely easy to navigate, shop, search, access documentation, and manage their account. The final product should feel: * Premium * Scientific * Modern * Trustworthy * Minimal rather than cluttered * Fast * Easy to navigate * Excellent on mobile **3D Experience** We are particularly interested in developers with experience using technologies such as: * Three.js * WebGL * GSAP * Web-based 3D rendering * Interactive animation * Scroll-based animation * Custom 3D assets We are open to the developer recommending the best technical approach. However, the visual experience cannot come at the expense of performance. A powerful desktop experience with an unusable mobile version is not acceptable. The developer should be able to appropriately optimize or simplify the experience for different devices when necessary. **Design References** We already have examples of successful websites and competitors whose layout, presentation, features, or user experience we like. We can provide these references once the project begins. These are meant strictly as inspiration and reference material. We are NOT looking to plagiarize, clone, or directly reproduce another company's website. We want the developer to understand why certain elements work and then create an original interpretation specifically for our brand. **Design Approval & Development Process** We do not want the complete website developed before seeing the proposed visual direction. We would prefer a structured process such as: 1. Review our references and project requirements 2. Establish overall visual direction 3. Present homepage/hero concepts or mockups 4. Agree on the 3D direction and general UX 5. Develop the approved design 6. Build WooCommerce functionality and customer systems 7. Test desktop and mobile versions 8. Final revisions, optimization, and launch We are open to a developer's preferred workflow, but major design decisions should be approved before full development. We value communication throughout the project and want to avoid reaching the end of development only to discover that the visual direction was misunderstood. **WordPress + WooCommerce** The website will use WordPress and WooCommerce. We are looking for someone capable of going beyond standard WooCommerce templates. This will include custom layouts and styling for areas such as: * Homepage * Shop * Product pages * Navigation * Customer accounts * Cart/checkout presentation * COA/documentation system * Search and filtering * Mobile experience **Customer Accounts / Client Portal** Customers should have access to a polished account area rather than the default/basic WooCommerce account experience. Features should include: * Customer registration * Email/password login * Google sign-in * Secure account dashboard * Order history * Order status * Account information * Password reset * Easy account management Other appropriate authentication options can be discussed. **RUO-Focused Website Structure** The website is being built specifically around a **Research Use Only** business model. Relevant experience is extremely valuable to us because this is different from designing a typical consumer health or telehealth website. The website should allow proper placement and management of: * Research Use Only notices * Product-level disclaimers * Age/access acknowledgement where appropriate * Terms and Conditions * Privacy Policy * Shipping Policy * Refund/Return Policy * Compliance notices * Research-focused product presentation Final legal/compliance language will be provided or approved by us. We want the developer to properly incorporate these elements into the user experience rather than treating compliance as nothing more than footer text. For quality-control purposes, include the word "Peptide" somewhere in the first paragraph of your proposal. The website should maintain its research-focused presentation consistently across product pages, customer areas, policies, and other appropriate areas. **COA / Laboratory Documentation** A professional Certificate of Analysis (COA) system is required. We would like customers to easily locate laboratory documentation associated with products. Possible functionality includes: * Dedicated COA library * Search functionality * Product-specific COA links * Easy document replacement/uploading * Organized presentation of reports Most importantly, our internal team needs to be able to upload and replace future COAs without developer assistance. **Product Discovery** The store should make it easy to locate products through: * Search * Product categories * Filtering * Clear navigation * Clean product pages * Related research products where appropriate **Custom Customer Emails** Default WooCommerce emails are not sufficient for this project. Transactional emails should be customized to match the visual identity of the website, including: * Brand colors * Logo * Typography * Buttons * Overall styling This includes: * Order confirmation * Order updates * Shipping/tracking emails * New account emails * Password reset emails * Other important account notifications The designs must work properly across major email clients and mobile devices. **Mobile & Performance** Mobile performance is a major requirement. The website and 3D experience should be tested and optimized for: * Desktop * Tablet * iPhone * Android Performance work should include optimization of: * 3D assets * Images * Animation * JavaScript * Caching * WooCommerce * Loading behavior **Security, Staging & Backups** The finished website should follow professional WordPress security practices. We expect: * Secure customer authentication * SSL * Login protection * Spam/bot protection * Sensible WordPress hardening * Safe plugin practices * Automated backups Development should preferably occur on a staging environment before being pushed to production. **Easy Internal Management** We should not need to contact a developer whenever we want to perform routine store management. Our team should be able to: * Add products * Remove products * Change pricing * Update stock * Upload COAs * Update product images * Edit normal content * Manage orders * Manage product categories **Inventory & Shipping** WooCommerce should be properly configured for: * Inventory quantities * SKUs * Low-stock notifications * Out-of-stock products * Shipping zones * Shipping methods/rates * Tracking information * Shipping notifications **Technical SEO & Analytics** We are not hiring someone to run an ongoing SEO campaign. However, the website should launch with a strong technical foundation including: * Proper page structure * Clean URLs * Metadata support * Sitemap * Search-engine-friendly architecture * Image optimization * Appropriate schema where relevant We would also like implementation of: * Google Analytics * Google Search Console * Basic event/conversion tracking **Testing** Before launch, the site should be tested across major environments, including: * Chrome * Safari * Firefox * Microsoft Edge * iOS * Android Basic accessibility best practices should also be followed. **Payment Processing — NOT Part of This Project** We already have our payment-processing solution. Payment processing is outside the scope of this job. We are NOT hiring someone to: * Find us a processor * Source a merchant account * Obtain processor approval * Recommend high-risk processors * Provide payment-processing consultation Please do not include these services in your proposal or price. **Post-Launch Support** Your proposal should include a defined post-launch period during which bugs or development-related issues will be corrected. Please specify what support is included. **Ownership & Final Handoff** At project completion, we expect full ownership/access to the work created for this website, including where applicable: * WordPress administrator access * Website files * Custom code * 3D assets * Design assets * Plugin configurations * Documentation * Project-specific accounts Any recurring software costs, premium plugins, third-party services, or licenses should be disclosed before implementation. **Who We Want to Hear From** Please avoid sending a generic portfolio containing dozens of unrelated projects.
