Full-Stack Developer (Django + React + AWS): Consulting on a Live Healthcare Platform

We have a live operations platform in the medical and healthcare space, based in the US (Eastern Time). It's already built and running in production on AWS. It handles scheduling, compliance, billing, intake, and outreach by text, email and AI voice. The codebase is modern, well tested, and well documented. We're looking for a developer to help us build on top of it. We'll start with a consulting phase: get to know the system, advise us on it, and take on some first tasks. If it's a good fit, this becomes a steady, ongoing project. You'll work with the project lead, who is a business operator, not a programmer. Clear, plain-English communication matters as much as the code. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Get the platform running locally and learn how it fits together, using the existing documentation. - Review the system and advise us on priorities, risks and improvements. - Build new features on the backend (Python/Django) and frontend (React/TypeScript). - Help maintain the production setup on AWS, including deployments and monitoring. - Work with existing integrations: a healthcare data platform (SOAP/XML), SMS and voice providers, email, and AI services. - Write short plain-English updates and keep the documentation current. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Solid hands-on experience with Python and Django, including Django REST Framework - React with TypeScript - PostgreSQL - Some experience with AWS - Comfort working in an existing codebase someone else built - Good written English and the ability to explain technical things simply NICE TO HAVE - Celery and Redis - AWS services such as ECS/Fargate, RDS, S3, IAM, SES, Cognito or CloudWatch - Terraform, Docker and GitHub Actions - Healthcare software and HIPAA awareness - HHAeXchange, EVV, or other healthcare data or billing systems - Twilio or Vonage messaging, ElevenLabs or other voice AI, and webhooks - AI-assisted development (Claude Code, Cursor or similar), used with good judgment ENGAGEMENT - Hourly contract, starting with a consulting phase - Expected duration: 1 to 6 months - Can grow into a steady ongoing project of about 20 hours a week - At least 4 hours of overlap with US Eastern Time (EST) business hours - An NDA and IP-assignment agreement are required before you see any code TO APPLY Start your cover letter with the word "Hudson."
