AI, Automation & Integration Specialist for Marketing Agency
Are you passionate about solving problems using integrations, automations, and AI?
Hector Home Services Marketing helps contractor businesses to grow online.
We are looking for an ongoing core team member to join our small committed remote marketing team – to integrate our tech stack, improve our output and results, and automate our workflows with AI!
Location: Remote. High speed secure internet required. Flexible on hours and days worked.
Compensation: $20-40/hour, depending on your experience, skills, availability, and proposal.
Hours: Part-Time to Full-Time. 10-20+ hours per week, based on availability and compensation. Possibility of more hours as we identify more needs and grow.
Start: Hiring now. Position starts November 2026. Paid orientation and collaboration.
Type: Independent Contractor. Intent for long-term working relationship.
Summary
We need you to be the AI and Automation Pillar in our small committed team. We're building a human + AI system, where Claude does the heavy lifting and our team stays in charge of the decisions.
Your work will center on three things:
1. Integrate our software together and in some cases our client’s software together via APIs and MCPs, so Claude can access and work with our data.
2. Automate our workflows using our well defined processes and Claude/AI, so our team spends less time on repetitive work and more on high-value work.
3. Build AI tools and agents that share a common foundation of knowledge about our clients and our business, so that we can improve our team and our client’s experience, insights, and results.
Your first big project will be building a custom reporting dashboard with Claude Code that replaces our current reporting software. After that, we will apply your skills to other parts of our agency, such as automating our content production process, tech SEO strategy, client research, etc.
We are looking for a long-term working relationship with someone who becomes a trusted part of our small team. We value your strategic and creative input, and expect you to spend a portion of your hours on research, learning, meeting with us, and contributing new ideas. We want you to help us question our assumptions, refine what we truly need, and arrive at better results.
We have a collaborative, kind, asynchronous, friendly working culture. As we grow, there will likely be opportunities for increased hours, responsibilities, and compensation.
Will you join us to connect our systems and automate our agency with AI?
Who We Are
Hello there! We are Hector Home Services Marketing.
We are a specialized digital marketing agency that helps family-owned home service businesses to grow their business online.
We market research and build optimized websites, google business profiles, and online footprints to win customers for our clients through local SEO. We also deploy Google Ad campaigns to enhance lead flow, and provide clients with CRM systems and marketing automations via Go High Level.
Contractors, remodelers, electricians, pest control companies – we work with local businesses doing honest work on people's homes to grow their business. They love working with us!
Our clients are burned out on gimmicks, lead-buying platforms, and agencies that overpromise and underdeliver.
We are the opposite of that. No BS. Just clean, effective online marketing that gets their phone ringing, built on strong relationships and clear communication and reporting.
Once we get them results (typically within 90 days) they stick with us for years.
We're a small passionate remote team. We care about doing great work, but we don't believe in hustle culture or burning out our team.
We believe in Slow Productivity:
- Do fewer things
- Use a focused strategy
- Apply processes and systems
- Work at a natural pace
- Obsess over quality
- Get results for clients
We communicate openly, support each other, and respect everyone's time and boundaries. We're building a company that respects and supports our team's lives!
Why We Are Hiring
We have a solid track record of getting great results for our clients. And we don't rest on those results! Every month we build new content, links, and optimizations to improve results further.
We have just under 20 ongoing clients, and are adding a new client just about once per month. Given our growth, we are preparing to serve 1.5-2x as many clients within 1-2 years. We know we can do it if we have the right people and systems in place. This is why we need your help.
We want to grow sustainably, with a small team of thoughtful, clever, hard workers that get results, while it still feels like a good place to work. We believe AI is how we get there, as long as it is connected to accurate data, built into our real workflows, and keeps our team in the loop on the decisions that matter.
Most urgently, we need help in reporting all of these great results to our clients! Reporting is our biggest bottleneck, and it's where we want you to start.
Position Overview
You will be the person who connects our software to Claude, automates our workflows, and builds the agents that carry out approved work. We'll give you the context and goals, you'll propose a plan, and we'll check in as needed.
You are the builder, not the analyst. You won't be the one analyzing our technical SEO, PPC performance, or content strategy. Your job is to connect Claude to our tools via MCP and API, so that Claude can analyze these things and deliver clear, accurate intelligence to our team. We then review it, and either implement it manually or approve an AI agent to implement it. Part of this is knowing when to build something custom and when an existing Claude tool, like Cowork or a well-configured Project, already does the job.
You don't have to take on all of these projects at once! We will phase them in over time. Here is the general order we have in mind:
1. Reporting Dashboard (first 2-3 months). Build a custom reporting dashboard with Claude Code that replaces Agency Analytics, then maintain and improve it. More details below.
2. Content Production Automation. Connect Claude with the tools we use to research, write, optimize, publish, and track content, while our team reviews and approves the work.
SEO Intelligence. Connect our SEO tools (Google Search Console, SiteBulb, BrightLocal, Lightsite.ai, etc.) to Claude, so it can monitor rankings and traffic, flag decaying content, and recommend actions that become tasks in Monday.com once approved.
3. Ads Intelligence. Connect Google Ads and Local Services Ads to Claude, so it can deliver weekly and monthly analysis and recommended adjustments for our team to review.
Sales and Marketing. Connect Claude to research tools, so it can help find and qualify potential clients and draft custom proposals from our template.
We'd like these projects to share a common foundation, a shared source of knowledge about our clients, results, and processes, rather than become separate, disconnected tools. We'd love to hear how you would approach this practically.
To be clear, you do not need to be a data scientist, SEO strategist, PPC specialist, or Google Analytics expert. We are not asking you to set up GA4 and Tag Manager on client websites. We have that expertise on our team, and Claude knows a lot of it too.
We need someone who can connect these systems together reliably. We also have guides for reference for setting up some of these tools from our Agency Mastermind group and professional network.
Project 1 - Reporting System
This is the most important thing we are hiring for. Reporting is the biggest bottleneck in our agency right now. It takes up a big chunk of time every month, time which should be spent on client strategy and nurturing our business.
Currently – Report dashboards are populated by native integrations on a system called Agency Analytics. However there are tons of charts and bits of information from other programs we use that are not finding their way into there automatically. I have been assembling these manually with tons of screenshots for years now, and now with around 20 clients – it’s time to stop the madness! 😂
Instead, we would like you to use Claude Code to build a custom reporting system for our clients. This is a backend-heavy, API-integration-focused project that will become a core piece of our agency infrastructure, and the first of several systems, so it should be built for future projects to build on.
It will use APIs and MCPs to connect to Google Search Console, Analytics, Ads, Local Services Ads, and Business Profiles, plus BrightLocal and SEMrush. It will connect to our clients’ CRMs and our Go High Level for full cycle lead and conversion data, and to our Monday boards to display what we’ve completed for each client. (Unless or until we may build something to replace Monday’s task manager functionality.)
Each month it will:
- Publish a styled, shareable HTML “Dashboard” for each client at a unique URL (no login required). We will collaborate with our current Dashboard for reference.
- Provide monthly insights for us to review, flagging anything odd or notable in Analytics, Ads, Tech SEO, etc, with recommended actions. It would also be great to chat with this AI about all of this.
- Write a script outline of the most important stats and progress for each client, which will be used to guide the monthly video reports that are made.
We need this system to be reliable and accurate.
It must not hallucinate, and it should check, reinforce, and improve itself. How to achieve that is open: for example, checking figures against the source data, or having another AI such as Gemini cross-check the analysis. We’d like to hear what you recommend from your experience.
What success looks like:
- Within the first 4–6 weeks, dashboards are live and accurate for 2-3 pilot clients.
- By the end of month 3, every client’s monthly report is generated without manual screenshots or writing, along with monthly insights and video script outlines.
- Monthly reporting time drops dramatically, and is spent reviewing rather than assembling.
- This system runs reliably every month, and when something breaks, you catch it before we do.
We are open to your suggestions and excited to hear your thoughts on key features, systems, and functionality!
Your Most Important Personality Qualities
1. Attention to detail is non-negotiable. This is not about skill level or compensation. It is about caring enough to check your own work before calling it done. We should never be finding things you should have caught.
2. Communication is key. You're great at framing questions, listening, explaining, and steering us towards the best technical solutions. You do what you say you're going to do, and you communicate when anything about that has to change.
3. Reliability above all. We are a small team. When you own something, it gets done correctly and on time. We don't micro-manage, and we rely on you to be forthcoming when you make a mistake or need collaboration or support. When something you built breaks, we expect to hear it from you first, with what happened and your fix, and not for us or our clients to discover it first.
4. Kind attitude. You have a positive attitude, are curious, friendly to work with, and collaborative.
5. Pride in Quality. You take ownership seriously and with pride. You want the output to be excellent, and won't rest until it is.
Skills and Knowledge Required
This is an AI-first technical role, and it is also a coding role. Claude Code will write much of the code, but you need to read, understand, debug, and maintain every line of it.
You are the developer; Claude is your tool.
You must be able to demonstrate experience with:
- Claude Code - you use Claude Code daily to build real working software, and you review its output critically. You can tell when it’s wrong, fix it yourself, and keep a codebase clean as it grows.
- MCP (Model Context Protocol) - connecting Claude to other software through existing MCP servers, and ideally building your own.
- AI agents and reliable output - you have built agents or automations that draw on shared knowledge, produce structured, reliable output at scale, and include approval steps so a person reviews recommendations before an agent acts.
- REST API integration - you have actually built against third-party APIs, not just read documentation. You handle authentication, rate limits, error handling, and data transformation without guidance.
- Google APIs - GA4 Data API, Search Console API, Google Ads API, or similar. You know how OAuth 2.0 and service accounts work and can set them up.
- Node.js or Python, plus basic frontend - clean, readable code someone else can maintain, and enough React or HTML/JS to build a styled report page.
- Git and code management - version control, organized repositories, and clear documentation.
- Hosting and deployment - you can get a small backend live on Railway, Render, or similar without hand-holding.
Characteristics to Have
Specific experience with each of these is secondary to:
1. Great communication skills
2. Honest work ethic
3. Conscientious, organized, curious and strategic approach
4. Driven by results
Strong to Have Skills
- Claude’s broader toolset - Claude Cowork, Projects, skills, plugins, and connectors, set up so our team can use AI directly in their daily work.
- n8n or Make.com - multi-step workflows with HTTP requests, conditional logic, and scheduled triggers.
- Gemini or OpenAI APIs - useful for cross-checking and verifying analysis.
- Go High Level - CRM configuration, pipeline setup, webhook integrations.
- Monday.com API (GraphQL-based) or other GraphQL APIs.
SEMrush or BrightLocal APIs - or similar local SEO data platforms.
- Content workflows - automating content research, writing, or publishing (WordPress, etc.).
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, Search Console, Google Ads, and Google Business Profile -- enough to understand what the data means, not to implement tracking.
We’re Not Looking For
- Developers who are new to API integration or have only used APIs through wrappers and plugins. We are not programmers, so we need someone who knows this!
- No-code builders, or anyone who relies on AI to write code they can’t read, debug, or maintain.
- Developers who need detailed specifications for each step. We'll give you context and goals, and need you to problem-solve and communicate at decision points.
- Agencies or people who subcontract work. We want to work directly with one person that we can trust.
- Someone who is just starting to figure out AI and how to integrate it with other data.
- You only want to build only what is ideal or what you like from a programing perspective, ignoring practical concerns such as budgeting, prioritization, inter-operability, etc.
- If you are not a patient, consistent, or kind communicator.
- If you are too busy with other clients or jobs to build what is needed.
- If you are prone to making mistakes that your client discovers.
- If you are an agency that is going to share the responsibility. We want a real person! 😎
How to Apply:
If this sounds like a great fit, we'd love to hear from you.
Please start your proposal with the word “Dashboard” so we know you've read this far. Then include the answers to the following questions.
Please answer at least the first question on an accompanying short video.
1. About you - Who you are, where you are based, what kind of work you do best, and why you're interested in and a strong fit for this role.
2. API and integration examples - A few examples where you integrated software using APIs or MCPs to solve business needs. For each, briefly share what it does, what APIs were involved, the outcome, and what the hardest part was.
3. Please include a link to a GitHub repository or code sample you wrote or maintained, if you can share one.
4. Your experience with AI - Specifically Claude, Claude Code, Gemini, OpenAI, or similar. What have you built? Have you built AI agents or automations? What did you learn about prompt reliability at scale?
5. Shared knowledge and approvals - How would you structure shared client knowledge so that our reporting dashboard and future automations draw from the same source? How would you design an approval step between Claude's recommendations and an AI agent carrying them out? If you think our approach is wrong, tell us why.
6. Your availability - Do you have the availability and interest to work with us long term? What is your other client or workload, and how will you ensure you have hours for us?
7. Your hourly rate - What can you offer as your best rate for this many hours ongoing?
8. Any question(s) - Is there anything you would like to ask us or clarify?
Applications without relevant examples will not be reviewed.
Applications without videos will go to the back of the line.
We're not looking for the cheapest option.
We're looking for someone who will become a trusted part of how our agency operates. We're much more interested in real experience, and eager work ethic, than polished resumes.
What to expect from Applying
**Do not contact us through other social media platforms or through email or phone calls.**
We will only review and consider applicants who contact us through this job post on Upwork.
We aim to review all applications within 1-2 weeks of submission, and will be back in touch with additional questions and to schedule an interview as soon as possible.
Thanks so much for your time and consideration. 🙂
We're excited to meet and to work with you!
